Efficacy and Safety of Curcumin in Major Depressive Disorder:

Curcumin is an extract from turmeric (Curcuma longa), the amazing yellow spice, popular in Asian cooking and it now has yet another string to its bow.

 

A Randomized Controlled Trial involving 60 patients presents the first study to show the spice can be used safely and effectively in people with major depression (Sanmukhani, et al, 2013).

Other research on this amazing herb show its ability to induce cell apoptosis in prostate cancer (Guo et al, 2013), HPV-16-mediated cervical cancer (Shukla et al, 2013) and its ability to slow the progression of Alzheimer's Disease (Ahmed and Gilani, 2013) among many others.
