Belfast's First Vegan Festival

I was unable to attend the recent festival due to multiple commitments but I was pleased to hear it was so well attended. The first ever IRISH VEGAN FESTIVAL in Northern Ireland took place at Belfast’s Ulster Hall on 9th April 2016. There was an unprecedented level of demand, with 2 hour queues and over 2400 people coming along. Live music, talks, films and relaxation rooms completed the day.

The 2017 event is being organised and more info can be found at the Farplace website here.

I am a strong advocate of plant-based diets. Diets high in vegetables and fruit provide key vitamins and minerals often missing in highly processed foods, in particular anti-oxidants which reduce inflammation and literally slow down the aging process. Diets high in meat and diary products can be problematic for many reasons but even if you don't want to become a full vegan, leaning towards a plant based diet can have powerful implications for your health as well as the health of the environment!
